I haven’t done one of these in forever, so it’s time to get back on the wagon.

Blaugust 2026

Complete bust. I wrote 3 posts in 31 days. That’s actually more than I thought, but it wasn’t great. I haven’t done well blogging this year at all, so it’s not that much of a surprise. Maybe I can rectify that in the last half of the year. For those of you who participated in Blaugust 2026, hope you had a good time.

The App Ecosystm

I’ve continued to create new apps that help with parts of my life and workflow. I talked about DJ, but I’ve not talked much about the rest. I have a habits tracker now, a to do list application that I’ve been working on for months, an awesome reading tracker/ebook/audiobook reader app that I’m going to write about very soon, and a few more.

Lately, most of my work has gone into the reading tacker. I’ve been tracking my reading for years, but always as a separate operation from the actual reading. With my app, it tracks as I read and keeps tons of stats about what I read and when, what I was listening to while reading, and so much more. It also doubles as a ebook and audiobook library. It is awesome, and I’m super proud of it. I’m going to write an entire blog post on it very soon.

Gaming

My Nephew and I are still working our way through Split Fiction. It’s an awesome game, especially with a second person. Every level has different mechanics, and it relies on each player to work together to get through the levels. I really like it, but we’re moving through it very slowly. We’ve also played a few games of Madden these last few weeks. I’m finally getting into a place where I can beat him. Sometimes.

We’re going to be playing some Pokemon here soon on the Switch, so that will be fun.

Writing

I’m about 1200 words into a SSH how to article. I write a little bit on that each day, so it’s slow going. Hopefully, I can get that done and posted over on the TLC Blog soon. Other than that my writing has been non-existent.

Reading

Goodness, August was a good month for reading. I finished 8 books total, read for over 70 hours, and averaged 175 words/minute. Pretty damn good. Here are the books I read:

  • Urban Sorcerer by Danny Rogan
  • Moving in: House Husband’s Harem by Dirk Knight
  • The Rainmaker by John Grisham (re-read)
  • The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England by Brandon Sanderson (Reread)
  • Bikini Magic, Bikini Sunset, Bikini Dawn, and Bikini Nights by Michael Dalton (The last four in the Bikini Days MMF series)

I’ve also continued my slug along with Red Risiing, but it’s slow going. Professor Code, my reading buddy, and I are working on it slowly. Hopefully, we can get it done in the next couple weeks.

My TBR for this month so far looks like this:

  • Urban Sorcerer 2 by Danny Rogan
  • Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
  • Naked in Death by JD Robb (Reread)
  • Finish Red Rising

So far this year, I’m at 26 books. My goal is 50, so I’m a bit behind. I need to read 6 books each month from here on out to get there. I don’t know if I’ll make it.
