My sleeping habits are all over the place. This getting up early thing is going to take awhile to set in. Some days I do well, and I’m up and at ’em early. Other days, I still sleep until late morning and it feels like the day is over too early. But I’m working on it.

Programming and Scripting⌗

I made a python script that adds metadata to the Manga I’ve been downloading, but the big thing I did this week was set up my own homeserver for Matrix and bridge my Matrix and Discord servers.

That was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It took three days, and required a ton of Googling. I’m still not confident that it won’t fall over at the slightest issue, but we’ll see. I also have to go back in and make sure it’s not storing a ton of user data. I really don’t want to store an archive of all the stuff that goes between the two servers. That will be the task for this week.

Oh, as part of that, I also set up a new VPS. The old company tripled their prices, so that had to go. This one was about $150 for the entire year, and the cost shouldn’t go up. Hopefully.

Gaming⌗

This week my Xbox is finally up and running. My nephew and I played Madden and a bit of Halo 1. I did some Madden on my own as well. I’ve also played some Forza Horizon 5, which is a good game but makes me miss Gran Turismo.

I also played some Cities Skylines II this week. It runs surprisingly well on Linux, though I didn’t play it for long enough to know that for sure. The old game used to crash as the city got larger.

My Switch is laying forgotten, so I need to spend some time with that this week or I’ll feel even more like it was a waste of money. Which it was.

Reading⌗

I’m still making my way through Pandora’s Star. I’m sitting at 65%, but my pace has slowed quite a bit as I’ve gotten distracted by a few fanfiction stories.

I’ve also gotten into more Manga this week. The one I’ve been reading most is called Transference by Hyang-U Creative. Its about this girl who can’t feel emotions and a guy who feels emotions too much. The art is spectacular. I’m still to early to know if the story is good, but the art has impressed me.

That was actually kind of fun. I also cleaned some stuff out that I don’t need anymore. Eventually, I’ll give some attention to the vulcan host.

• It finally got warmer here. We saw 50 degrees yesterday. Two weeks ago it was -20, so we’re on the upswing. I might get to go outdoors for a walk soon.
• I completely redid my desk this week. Something I’ve needed to do for ages. I cleaned everything, and moved my Mac to its own station. The inside of my computer was horrible. I’ve bought a new AIO, as the one that is in there is completely dusted. I will install that this week.
• I refilled my TWSBI this week for the first time. Fucked it up completely by unscrewing the piston too much, which meant I had to completely disassemble it. It was a bloody (inky) mess. I’ll do better next time now that I know what not to do.
• This up coming week is the first of three tax weeks for me. I’ll do my parent’s taxes this week. Eventually, my nephew will make his way here and that will be the second tax event. Mine wait until April as I don’t want to give my money to the government, and procrastination is my only weapon.

Goals From Last Week⌗

• Keep reading Pandora’s Star. Get to 75%. ❌ (65%)
• Fix some more of my music’s metadata. I’ve found some errors. ❌ (though I did start a python script to do this).
• Clean and reorganize my desk. ✅
• Figure out a storage solution for my used notebooks. Preferably without buying anything new. ✅ (at least for now, I’ve got them on a shelf).

Goals for This Week⌗

• Finish Pandora’s Star
• Finish my music metadata script and see if it works. Or see if all my metadata is ruined by my attempt at which point, I will subscribe to Spotify.
• Clean the “hoarding” corner in my office.
• Get back on track with TLC. Three uploads at least.
