Going Back To Daily Blogging
I wrote a little while ago, that I planned to stop blogging every day. I stated in that post that it had started to feel like an obligation, and that it had stopped being fun because I was forcing it.
Since then, I’ve had a problem in that I’m not blogging at all. I’ve only posted 19 times since that post and that was three months ago. I’ve also felt like I’ve lost motivation to actually work on my blog, when that was one of my favorite things to do last year.
Often times, it isn’t even laziness that keeps me from posting, but forgetfulness. I just forget to post day after day, and the gap between posts widens.
So, I’m going to go back to writing everyday, but I’m going to follow some rules.
- If I miss a day, it’s fine. It isn’t about a streak.
- Link, video, and image posts count as well.
- Short stream of consciousness posts are probably going to happen.
Really, that first one is the only rule. I don’t want it to be an obligation, but instead motivation to write and interact with my blog and the people who read my blog.
I also think that this will help me add some structure to my life again. Since I’ve been between jobs, it’s hard for me to keep a schedule. I’ve forgotten what it’s like to have to add that structure to my own life instead of having it done for me by a job. While I have a new job, it doesn’t start until this summer (outside of some training), so I still have time where I need to fend for myself. Hopefully, blogging everyday will add some of that structure back into my life and offer some direction and motivation.
So, here’s day 1. We’ll see how this goes.
