Using My Wallpapers
I have nearly 60GB of wallpapers on my hard drive. I feel like that’s a lot. Every time I see a cool wallpaper online or on discord, I add it to my collection. 99.9% of this so-called collection I’ve never used. I could use a new wallpaper every day for the rest of my life and still probably not get more than half way through, if that.
The thing is, I only use about 10 walls in my usual Hyprland setup, one for each color scheme. So, it’s like I’m not even trying to use the others. And yet, I still collect new ones all the time. It’s a habit at this point.
So, I’ve started to try something new. I’ve set up Hyprland, waybar, and Kitty to use pywal16, and I’ve set up some keybindings so that I can switch wallpapers and themes several times a day. I’ve also created a script that will look to see what wall I’m using and save it to a favorites folder, so if I find one that I really like, I will be able to find it later.
So far, this has been fun. I had gotten out of the whole “ricing” business, but I had apparently missed it. This has been great. Solving the little things that come along as you try to get things to look just right. It has gotten me to script a bunch more too, which I always enjoy doing. So, I think this has been good for me. And I get to put some of those wallpapers to use, which is good too.
Here are a few screen selfies of my current set up with some of those wallpapers.
