Saving Bookmarks
Right now, my bookmarks are a mess. Most of my content that I save for reading later comes from FreshRSS, so I have about 500 “bookmarks” or starred files there. I also have my browser bookmarks that aren’t nearly as bad as I’ve kept them very organized. I also use linkding for a read-it-later service. So, my bookmarking situation is kind of all over the place and I’m not sure what I’m going to do about it.
I’ve spent a few hours tonight going through my starred articles on FreshRSS and haven’t made much of a dent. I’ve thought about moving them all over to linkding, but that would take time, and then that would be a mess too. I could ensure they are all properly tagged, but it would still just be a long list of things over there, and I’m not sure that is what I want.
Maybe I just keep the RSS stuff separate, as I do now. It works fine as long as from time to time I go there and read through things. I think I’ll have to re-categorize my RSS feeds, though, so the starred stuff isn’t all smashed together. Not everything can be a blog. That might work for going forward, though I’m not sure if that will help what has already been starred or not.
Linkding is fine, but I’m coming to think that it’s too simple for my needs. Stuff gets lost easily, which means I have some links saved there that are quite old. I don’t maintain it as well as I should, and there is a lot there. Maybe I should look at something else? There are other options like wallabag and Link Warden. I’ll have to think about it.
Right now, I know that I have saved stuff all over the place, and it’s hard to know where everything is saved. So, I’ll have to start thinking about a new system. What do you guys do for bookmarks and read later stuff?
