I’ve changed the naming scheme a little. I stole the idea from Justin Vollmer. Yoink.

Programming⌗

I have started yet another project. I’m calling it Checkbox, and it’s a todo list application that will one day replace TickTick for me.

It is written in Rust (btw) and GTK4. I’m learning Rust rabidly, but I still suck at it. So there’s a lot of error codes coming my way that I then have to go look up or ask Claude. It’s been enormously fun.

My eventual goal is to develop a server side to this that will allow users to host their own syncing ability. Then I can tie in the todo list widget on my Homepage that I’ve been developing. I’ve done some work on that this week too, but it’s mostly cosmetic stuff.

Reading⌗

I have read. A lot.

I’ve finished three more books since last week. I never do that. All these books are part of The Unbelievable Mr. Brownstone series. I’m still enjoying them, though I’m a bit disappointed in the romance. As per usual.

Potpourri⌗

• I recorded two videos tonight. Not going to have time to edit them, so that will be tomorrow, but it felt good to get back in front of the camera again.
• Knees still suck. It’s been up and down all week.
• The music library quest continues. I’m almost done with my first list of country music artits, and then I’m moving on to 90s and 00’s artists of all genres that I don’t already own.
• I’ve been using a few of my notebooks as a journal this last week. I’ve obviously had a lot on my mind, so it has been nice to get some of that down.
• And it let me use my new fountain pens. I got a couple new ones and some ink for one of the pens I had already purchased. This is going to be a problem, even if I don’t ever buy an expensive one. I even got two pen cases now. It’s going to be an issue.
• I’ve been trying out Noctalia Shell these past few days. I’m honestly kind of meh about it, if I’m being honest. It’s fine, but if I had been expecting something way better than waybar, I’ve been equally disappointed.
• I started writing some fanfic this week. I signed up for a Secret Santa exchange on the Harmony Discord. I haven’t written fanfic in almost two years, so it is going to be interesting.
