More updates have happened on the blog. I have a new “link” post type, that will allow me to share links to things I find interesting. This was fun to set up, and took a fair bit of doing. I wanted it to appear in the main hugo feed, and I wanted the posts to appear a bit different. At first, I thought about having a different background, but that didn’t look right. What I did instead, was make the post underline and the metadata a different color. If you go to the home page and scroll down, you’ll see my first attempt at this. I like it, though I will probably tweak it a bit in the future.

I also changed the way metadata looks site wide. I removed the :: parts, which were remnants of the original re-terminal theme, and simplified it. I also changed the order. I like this a bit better, but I’m not sure it’s the end of that story yet.

During all this, I broke the RSS feed. I’m not sure what I did really, other than use a tag that’s no longer supported, but that broke things completely and took me a little while to figure out.

My next task is to move the /images sub type into the main feed. I separated them at first, but I don’t think I like it that way. Instead, I’ll just style them differently in the main feed like I did with the links. Maybe this is too messy? IDK. If I don’t like it I can always go back.

I also want to create a theme changer for this site. Not everyone likes Gruvbox, so I figure to give people an option of a few more themes. That’s going to be a fun undertaking and probably completely unnecessary, but it will be fun.

Sometimes I think I have more fun tweaking my blog than I do blogging on it.
