October Is TBR Month
So, September has been a total bust when it comes to reading. I just have not been able to settle my attention enough to actually get any reading done. I wrote back at the half way mark, that I was hoping to catch up. That did not happen. Not at all. I’ve opened a couple books, but I don’t think I’ve read a single page.
I’ve read some fanfiction, but I can’t seem to settle on a book and actually read it. So, I’m challenging myself. From October 1st (tomorrow) to October 31st, I’m going to strive to finish every book on my currently being read list. Right now that consists of:
- Powers and Thrones by Dan Jones
- Grave Peril by Jim Butcher
- The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
- Dynasty by Tom Holland
- Investigation, Mediation, Vindication by Chris Tullbane
- Genghis Khan by Jack Weatherford
- The Will of the Many by James Islington
- Alexander the Great by Paul Cartledge
- A Fellowship of Bakers & Magic by J Penner
Some of those have been in progress for over a year. This is the month where that changes. I’m going to read every book on that list this month, or they’re being dnf’d for good. I’m sure that a couple will go that route, but I’m hoping that I finish most of them. My progress through them varies, some are hardly started, some are in the middle. Sadly, some of the ones I’m furthest along in, I’ve not read in a while, so I may need to start over.
I’m doing this because the slump needs to end. And I need to prune that list so I can start some other books and move on. I think part of this slump is that I’ve started too many books. I need to get the list down.
I’m going to cheat a little, as I’m going to start a day early, but I won’t tell if you don’t. I’m a bit excited. I just need to figure out which one to start on. I think it will probaby be Grave Peril, as Dresden always goes fast once you get into it, and I should be able to knock it out quickly. I will also be reading this next month’s book club book, so that will add another. I think that’s a reread, so it won’t be a big deal, but it does add another book onto the list. 🥹
Wish me luck, guys. I’m gonna need it.
