Too Many Blogs, So Little Time
So with Blaugust going on, I’ve found so many new blogs to read. Someone (and I’m sorry, I didn’t save the link) created an opml file that allows you to import the RSS feeds from every single blog that is participating in Blaugust 2025. I did this. Because I love to read blogs, even when I’m not all interested in the topics being written about. It’s actually fairly rare for me to be that uninterested. I learn a lot, and I’m often inspired by what other people write. I have come up with both blog post ideas and video ideas just from reading various blogs around the internet.
But for every good thing there is a bad. In this case, I now have nearly 4000 new posts to read in my FreshRSS reader. I could mark them all as read, but I hate doing that. If I subscribe to something, I want to read it. Marking something as read when I didn’t actually read it, or at least see what it was about, is a bit icky for me. It feels like a waste. Like, why did I bother subscribing if I wasn’t going to read the stuff that comes through the feed?
There’s also a sense of fear about missing out on something awesome. If I just mark everything as read, surely I’m going to miss something, how could I not?
But there’s 4000 posts here. Not including what came in today while I was working and doing other things. It would take me weeks if not months to read them all. I want to read them all, but I will just get further and further behind. So, I have to mark them as read.
I have to.
I think there might be a little wrong with me mentally, lol. Does this bother other people? I know I’ll never get through so many posts, and yet, when my finger clicks that “mark as read” button, I’ll die a little on the inside. Dramatic much, Matt? Yes, apparently. But damn if it isn’t true.
Ah well. You gotta do what you gotta do.
This was day 5 of Blaugust 2025.
