Are Newsletters Still A Thing?
During a break today, I watched a YouTube video about how to promote yourself, and the creator talked about newsletters.
Now, maybe I’m out of touch, but I thought newsletters were a thing of the past. I know anything like that on my end goes right to spam. I also don’t sign up for newsletters, so maybe that’s why I really don’t get any. 🤣
But all this got me thinking: should I have a newsletter? On one hand, it would be cool for some of my work or whatever to go to people who want it in that fashion (if those people exist). On the other hand, it just seems like spam.
I then decided I was being too literal. Newsletters don’t necessarily mean email. I have no real interest, I don’t think, in using some newsletter software to send out actual caveman-like emails. But a post on this blog or on my Patreon could be something interesting.
I already do a weekly patron podcast, but a weekly little post about what I’m doing and working on could be interesting, if for no other reason than for myself to keep track of what is going on. I know a lot of bloggers do a weekly notes thing. I’ve done that on a monthly basis. Sometimes. But I’m way too inconsistent with it for it to be of use. Will I do better doing it weekly?
I’m not sure. But, I’m going to try.
For now, I’m going to keep it here on this personal blog. I may do something similar for my YouTube stuff and put it on Patreon or on TLC’s blog, but for now, it’ll just be here.
I do not know if that’s a newsletter or not, but that’s what I’m going to call it. Something to try, anyway.
