30 Blogs in 30 Days Recap
I didn’t miss a single day. That’s impressive. At least I think so. I actually learned a lot during this process, so I thought that for the last blog of this series, I’d talk about some of those things.
Not All Blogs Need to Be Long
I was convinced that 500–1000 words a day was going to be the minimum. But I have some that are less than 200 that I’m actually happy with. I don’t need this blog to be successful for Google to care about it, nor do I really have anyone who needs to care about how long these posts are. This blog is mainly for me. If I’m happy with what I write, who cares how much I write. If the post is complete, and I’ve said what I have to say, that’s good enough.
Biding by an arbitrary word count minimum is a sure way to get burnt out on blogging.
Self Reflection is Good For the Soul
I’ve done a lot of these types of posts, where I delve into deep mental health type topics. I am not usually one to think about that type of stuff, but I have to say that it has been refreshing to write some of this stuff down. It has renewed my interest in blogging itself because it has given this blog a purpose beyond just expressing my surface level thoughts.
I Also Like Lists
I like to list things and rank things. Those blog posts were fun. I’ll do more of them.
I Like Ghost
I had some issues with Ghost when I started. But those problems have all disappeared. It has worked great. I’ve even invested some time in a better commenting system and self-hosting analytics.
I Want to Blog More
I think I want to keep going. I don’t know about every day, but several times a week, I intend to blog. It feels like a great habit to have. The more I do it, the more I learn about blogging and about myself. And I’m going to blog about everything. This blog has no niche. I will use this as a place where I can talk about anything and everything that catches my fancy. There are no rules. After all, this is my blog.
With that being said, the thing I’ve learned more than anything during this time is that I really want to track myself more. I’ve really enjoyed the little bit I’ve been doing. I love having that data. And this blog is going to serve as a way for me to basically keep records and talk about what that data means for me. Hopefully, that type of thing helps others think about their lives as well.
This is part of 30 in 30. The last day.
