I’ll probably do this once a week or so, I may figure out a better title for it than just plopping the date at the end of the title.

This week I’m actually in the middle of a book when writing. I’m about 52% of the way through Good Intentions by Elliot Kay. In the last six months, I’ve found myself embroiled in what the book world calls “fantasy harem”, but is really just text-based anime. It’s an odd genre, to be sure, and not one filled with many great writers.
Good Intentions is just about the best writing I’ve seen. It’s outstanding, and for more reasons than just being spectacularly well written. For one, almost every poly story I’ve read has gone right into the smut.
I don’t, believe it or not, read this stuff because of the porn. So, I’ve been very disappointed in a lot of the fantasy I’ve read that features this type of relationship. Good Intentions doesn’t do this. In fact, most of the smut is fade-to-black. Add to that there’s honest to God relationship building, world building, and character growth, and this has really caught my attention.
As I said, I’m about halfway through, and about my only gripe is that the two main FMCs have fallen too fast for our main protagonist. I wish the real feelings had taken longer to develop, but at least it is done tastefully and in a way that makes sense.
My next book will be The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by VE Schwab. I’m really looking forward to that because it’s a stuck in time book. Should be fun.
